Avon offers a small mountain town atmosphere with many amenities. The town serves as a gateway to the world-class Beaver Creek Resort and is eight miles west of world-famous Vail. Avon also offers a multitude of recreational opportunities, events, parks, open space and trails, and a mix of local and national shops and economical restaurants. It is small enough to walk around, but offers a free daily shuttle connecting the town to Beaver Creek Village as well as dining, and shopping hubs within city limits.

Beaver Creek Rodeo
The Beaver Creek Rodeo features the full line up of classic rodeo events – Bronc Riding, Team Roping, Barrel Racing and of course, Bull Riding! Get in on the rodeo action by signing up for the Calf Scramble, Mutton Bustin’ or Burro Racing. Bring the whole family for pony rides, face painting, and mechanical bull rides!
World Class Skiing
The primary feature from November until mid April is the world class skiing and snowboarding at Vail, Beaver Creek, Bachelor Gulch and Arrowhead Mountains.
Jeep and ATV Tours
Numerous back country tours are available on designated trail systems throughout our area. Learn local history, view scenic wildflowers, mountain ranges and sunsets with several options to choose from. For the adventurous, rent your own ATV and explore alpine meadows, rushing brooks and spot wildlife.
Stand Up Paddle Boarding
Try your hand at new craze of stand up paddle boarding. Guides will effectively teach stand up paddling techniques and river dynamics, as each paddler actively controls his or her board down river.
White Water Rafting
This is a prime, central location for white-water rafting trips. From family-friendly float trips on the Upper Colorado River to rip-roaring whitewater rapids in Brown's Canyon, guided tours are available on a variety of rivers including the Colorado River, Arkansas River and Eagle River.
Adventure Center
The base of Beaver Creek mountain is packed full of fun for little ones from bungee jumping, rock wall climbing, panning for gems and mini golf!
Mountain Biking
The Town of Avon offers paved recreational paths around Nottingham Park, along the Eagle River, and throughout town. It also offers dirt single-tracks on the northwest side of town in the West Avon Preserve. The paved pathways and the dirt trails provide opportunities to walk, jog or bike while enjoying the town's mountain landscape. More Information
Golf
There are few places in the world where the game of golf can be played in such astounding natural beauty. Best yet, golfing at altitude means you're a drive away from one of the longest drives you'll ever hit. Public courses can be found in Vail, Eagle-Vail, Avon and Eagle.
